Sciam: "In 1991 I have accomplished my first studies about Broadway Boogie Woogie. It took, however, several years before I could put toghether a comprehensive analysis of Mondrian's work, from 1893 to 1944, and demonstrate my thesis: Mondrian's entire ouevre has been a constant search for one single image and that was Broadway Boogie Woogie."
By the end of 2004 Sciam had completed a first rough version of his studies. The text was then translated into english and published with the title "Piet Mondrian, An Explanation of the Work".
On September 2006 the book was sent to several museums and scholars dealing with Mondrian.
Among them, Prof. Carel Blotkamp,
Mr. Joop M. Joosten, Mr. Hans Janssen (Haags Gemeentemuseum), Mr. Evert J. van Straaten (director of the Otterlo Kröller-Müller Museum), Mr Glenn D. Lowry (director of the NYC MoMA), Mr. Klaus Albrecht Schröder (director of the VIenna Albertina Museum),
the director at the Kimbell's Art Museum, Mrs. Eva Kleeman (director of the Mondriaanhuis Stichting in Amersfoort), some universities, museum libraries and public libraries, various scholars in Italy, France, Germany, Israel, Japan and the USA.
Amsterdam Stedelijkmuseum, Otterlo Kröller-Müller Museum, Zürich Kunsthaus, Berlin Neue Nationalgalerie and several public institutions have listed the book in their libraries. NYC MoMA have included Sciam's book in their Library, Archives and Study Centers.
The book consists of text (PDF files from 1 to 11) and seven tables external to the text (PDF files from 12 to 18) showing Mondrian paintings and some diagrams. The text refers to the tables as "Sections".
